Flash CS4

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

According to Sebs blog another new version of flash is coming out soon. Anyone who is ranked on page one of Google for their Christian name must be telling the truth, so hopefully we’ll get our hands on it soon!

Not sure what CS4 has in store, but from what is floating around it sounds as if it’s going to be aimed more at designers than developers this time, with a completely rewritten timeline and auto keyframing. There’s an interesting post about it on the flash blog. It’s a few months out of date but gives a few bits away.

Apparently, flash 10 is codenamed diesel (like some oily moroccan resin ?) Heres what ive gleaned from jonnymac:

  •  There will no longer be a need for keyframes.
  • you can no longer have a tween that is “broken” because it is missing a keyframe because tweens are no longer tied to keyframes.

I bet it’s still crashes all the time like cs3, but we can always hope!

Click to activate is dead!

Pretty amazing news from the IE blog, that the ‘click to activate ‘ dialog that stopped flash from auto playing has finally been removed from internet explorer. I know a lot of left wing hippies seem to swear by firefox due to some anti microsoft sentiments or whatever, but ive always preffered Internet explorer and as a coder this may save loads of messing about with swfobject and such like.

siFR is an XHTML valid text flash plugin, allowing you to add flash text on the fly over the top of normal boring HTML text. This is a totally seo friendly and accessible way to add flash titles and captions which degrade back to normal HTML . http://www.mikeindustries.com/blog/sifr/
